51 Country Delegations and 508 Foreign Guests Attend Taiwan President Inauguration Ceremony

More than 500 foreign high-ranking officials are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony of Taiwan President-elect Lai Ching-te on the 20th.

On the 17th, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a press release that 508 guests from delegations representing 51 countries are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony.

Notably, among the 12 countries that have diplomatic relations with Taiwan, eight countries including the Marshall Islands, Palau, and Paraguay will send delegations at the head-of-state level. Additionally, one country will send a vice-head-of-state level delegation, one country will send a foreign minister-level delegation, and two countries will send special envoy delegations.

Among countries without diplomatic ties, officials from the United States, Canada, and Singapore are visiting Taiwan, and members of the European Parliament, as well as parliamentarians from the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, and South Korea, are also reported to attend.

Earlier, Jo Kyung-tae, a member of the People Power Party and chairman of the Korea-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Association, mentioned that he would attend the inauguration ceremony upon invitation from the Taiwan government. A South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs official recently stated that only Lee Eun-ho, the representative of the Korean Mission in Taipei, will attend, and there are no plans for a government delegation to participate.
