Frequent Holding of Pledge Project Briefings and High Praise for Resident Jury Panel Operation
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do received the highest grade of ‘SA’ in the ‘Evaluation of the Fulfillment and Information Disclosure of Promises by Elected Heads of Basic Local Governments in the 8th Term’ organized by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.
According to the county on the 17th, the Korea Manifesto Headquarters evaluated the 8th term promises posted on the websites of 226 basic local governments nationwide since February, assessing △completion of promise fulfillment △achievement of 2023 goals △resident communication △web communication △consistency.
As a result, Wando-gun was highly evaluated for frequently holding reporting sessions during the promise project implementation process and actively operating a resident jury panel for adjusting the progress and direction of projects, earning the ‘SA’ grade.

Wando-gun has set 3 major strategies and 9 implementation tasks, and is promoting a total of 78 promise projects accordingly.
In particular, region-customized projects such as △free bus fare system for all residents △expansion of night ferry operations △support for entrance celebration funds for elementary, middle, and high school students have received great responses from residents.
In addition, the county is accelerating key projects such as establishing a marine healing public enterprise, creating a supply base for the marine bio-material industry, building the National Marine Fisheries Museum, and early establishment of the National Subtropical Arboretum, steadily carrying out the projects promised to the residents.
Going forward, the county will continuously disclose the status of promise fulfillment through its website, including ‘Promises at a Glance’ and ‘Promise Map,’ to enhance transparency, and will continue to promote resident jury panel evaluations to expand communication with residents both online and offline.
County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “Keeping promises to residents is the top priority of county administration,” adding, “We will do our best to faithfully implement the promises so that many benefits can return to the residents.”
