The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 17th that traffic control will be implemented in major downtown areas such as Jongno-gu, Yongsan-gu, and Mapo-gu in connection with the '2024 Seoul Bicycle Parade' event to be held on the 19th.

At this event, 7,000 bicycles will depart from Gwanghwamun Square and ride through Seoul Station, Samgakji Station, the northern end of Hangang Bridge, pass along Gangbyeonbuk-ro, and reach the Peace Plaza in Sangam.

Accordingly, the event route including Sejong-daero~Taepyeong-ro~Hangang-daero~northern end of Hangang Bridge~Gangbyeonbuk-ro toward Ilsan~northern end of Gayang Bridge~World Cup-ro will have traffic control and release implemented in stages by section from 5:30 AM to 10:30 AM on the day of the event.

The police plan to deploy about 360 personnel, including traffic police and event management staff, to manage traffic by guiding vehicle detours and minimizing traffic congestion and inconvenience to citizens. A total of 365 placards and 206 signboards will be installed to inform about the control zones from distant areas, and the Seoul city government will temporarily adjust bus routes within the controlled sections.

A police official said, "Since some traffic control will make passage difficult, we ask for vehicle detours around the event route and the use of public transportation such as the subway."

Detailed traffic information on the day of the event can be obtained by contacting the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Traffic Information Hotline, KakaoTalk 'Seoul Police Traffic Information,' or by checking the Traffic Information Center website.
