Engulfed in Gyeongbuk Yeongyang Derogatory Controversy
Tastes Blueberry Jelly and Says "Grandmother Flavor"

The popular YouTube channel 'Pisik University,' which has over 3 million subscribers, has been embroiled in a controversy over regional disparagement. Pisik University has not issued any official statement regarding the controversy.

Recently, Pisik University posted a video titled "I Came to Yeongyang, the Smallest City in Gyeongsang Province." The video features comedians Jeong Jae-hyung, Kim Min-su, and Lee Yong-joo traveling in Yeongyang, Gyeongbuk.

They spent time eating hamburger buns at a bakery they visited through an acquaintance's introduction. The members said things like, "The taste is interesting," "I took a bite and felt a story in the food," and "It tastes like something made by a grandmother." They also said, "Young people want to eat hamburgers, but they substitute with this," and "To me, it feels like budae-jjigae (army stew). Since they can't eat it, they just eat it like this."

At a local Korean set meal restaurant in Yeongyang, they continued with harsh criticism such as, "The menu honestly lacks any distinctiveness," and "The menu is meaningless, so you have to eat whatever they give you." They added, "If you eat only this every day, you can imagine how delicious a hamburger would be; that hamburger earlier must have been heavenly."

After finishing their meal, they also purchased blueberry jelly at a mart. Regarding the jelly, they said, "It tastes like grandmother's cooking," and "I feel like I'm biting into my grandmother's flesh." They also said, "Honestly, it's not fun at all," and "The river looked pretty from above, but from below, it looked like sewage water."

Netizens who watched the content reacted with comments such as, "Am I the only one who thinks this is disrespectful to the bakery and restaurant owners? Does being successful on YouTube give you the right to criticize small business owners?" "It's fine to evaluate the taste, but you need to distinguish that from being rude," "The height of rudeness," and "If I were the owner of the hamburger bakery, I would have been heartbroken. Even if it's a comedy channel, there are boundaries."

Some netizens also pointed out that the names of the bakery and the Korean set meal restaurant were shown clearly. One netizen said, "The store names are all shown, and it's so rude that I'm embarrassed."

Pisik University has not issued any statement regarding the controversy and has not deleted the problematic video.

Meanwhile, Pisik University is a YouTube channel popular for its self-produced web variety shows such as 'Pisik Show,' 'Narak Quiz Show,' 'Made in Gyeongsangdo,' and 'Hansarang Mountaineering Club.' It currently has 3.18 million subscribers.
