An anonymous donor left a paper box containing cash worth 20 million won in front of the Administrative Welfare Center and disappeared, a story that has come to light.
On the 16th, Yonhap News reported that an unidentified paper box was found in front of the entrance of the Administrative Welfare Center in Simgok 1-dong, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. The box had a note that read, "It’s not much, but I hope it will be used for families in need." CCTV footage from the scene confirmed that around 7:06 a.m. that day, a man estimated to be in his 30s or 40s was seen leaving the box behind.
The box contained a total of 19,458,560 won. Upon closer inspection, it included ▲362 bills of 50,000 won notes ▲104 bills of 10,000 won notes ▲various coins amounting to 318,560 won. The photos show the 50,000 won and 10,000 won bills neatly spread out and stacked carefully. The coins were separated by denomination and placed in two plastic bottles.
The Simgok 1-dong office announced that the donated funds will be allocated as a special project budget for the Community Social Security Council to be used for neighbors in need. A Simgok 1-dong official said, "Looking at the money in the box, it seems to have been carefully saved over a long period," and added, "We are grateful to the anonymous philanthropist who donated such a considerable amount."
