Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will operate the “Understanding MZ Generation Language” special lecture for the elderly and other “Elderly Specialized Lifelong Learning Support Projects” starting from the 21st. This is one of the projects selected in March by the Ministry of Education under the “2024 Regional Lifelong Education Activation Support Project.”
In this regard, Gwangju Metropolitan City, Gwangsan-gu, along with five other autonomous districts and the Gwangju Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, have formed a consortium to encourage social participation and economic activities among the local elderly population, and to actively promote intergenerational exchange through the lifelong learning project titled “My job, Tomorrow (내 일) shines (光goeul) · Senior (시) · Sharing (나).”
Gwangsan-gu will offer a special lecture course on gerontology titled “Understanding MZ Generation Language,” a video creator training course, and a smartphone utilization instructor training and dispatch course.
Gwangsan-gu plans to operate each course in parallel with the mid-aged digital lifelong education project, which has been continuously promoted since last year.
For the video creator course, outstanding graduates will be selected and given opportunities to engage in video production activities linked with projects conducted by Buk-gu.
For the smartphone utilization instructor course, learners who complete the course and undergo practical training will be given opportunities to work as assistant instructors in various educational courses, supporting economic activities utilizing digital capabilities.
Applications for the project can be submitted through the Gwangsan-gu lifelong learning portal “Baeurangkke.” It is also possible to apply by visiting welfare centers within Gwangsan-gu or by phone. The capacity is 10 people per program and will be closed on a first-come, first-served basis.
For more details, inquiries can be made at the Comprehensive Social Welfare Centers (Cheomdan, Hanam, Haengbok Dream), Senior Welfare Centers (Deureuroak, Haengbok Naru), or the Gwangsan-gu Lifelong Learning Team.
Park Byung-gyu, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, stated, “Through this project, which is promoted in collaboration with Gwangju City, five autonomous districts, and related organizations, we will create new possibilities for citizens’ later life and support various challenges. We will also continue efforts to discover lifelong learning projects tailored to the elderly’s perspective.”
