Kim Hyung-dae, Chairman of Gangnam District Council, Joins 'Bye Bye Plastic Challenge'

Kim Hyung-dae, Chairman of the Gangnam District Council in Seoul, announced on the 16th that he has joined the nationwide campaign to reduce plastic use, the "Bye Bye Plastic Challenge."

The "Bye Bye Plastic Challenge" is a campaign promoted by the Ministry of Environment to protect the environment by reducing unnecessary plastic use. Chairman Kim Hyung-dae joined the challenge after being nominated by Choi Dong-cheol, Chairman of the Gangseo District Council, and he nominated Jo Dong-tak, Chairman of the Gangdong District Council, Oh Se-cheol, Chairman of the Seocho District Council, and Park Kyung-rae, Chairman of the Songpa District Council as the next participants.

Chairman Kim took the lead in reducing disposable product use by posting the Bye Bye Plastic practice rules on social networking services (SNS), including △ using reusable products instead of disposables △ using shopping bags when grocery shopping △ avoiding unnecessary use of vinyl.

Chairman Kim said, "The Gangnam District Council is making multifaceted efforts to create a green smart city Gangnam by effectively responding to the climate crisis and proposing ordinances for environmental protection. We will continue to research policies in various fields to establish an eco-friendly lifestyle culture and prioritize environmental protection in our council activities."

The Gangnam District Council has proposed ordinances such as the "Seoul Special City Gangnam District Green Building Support Ordinance," the "Seoul Special City Gangnam District Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Basic Ordinance for Climate Crisis Response," the "Seoul Special City Gangnam District Partial Amendment Ordinance for Promoting the Use of Environmentally Friendly Vehicles," the "Seoul Special City Gangnam District ESG Management Promotion Ordinance," and the "Seoul Special City Gangnam District Environmental Education Promotion and Support Ordinance."
