'3 Grand Prizes at the iF Design Award 2024
First Win at the Red Dot Design Award'
Electric vehicle fast charging network Water announced on the 16th that it has won awards in three categories at the 'iF Design Award 2024' and the main prize at the 'Red Dot Design Award 2024,' the most prestigious design competitions in the world.
At the iF Design Award, Water received main prizes in a total of three categories: public architecture, service design, and UI (User Interface) for the wooden canopy built at the electric vehicle charging station and the charging service and app. Water's wooden canopy also won the main prize in the product design category at the Red Dot Design Award.
Water's wooden canopy is a building that embodies the brand's philosophy of reducing carbon emissions. The columns of the wooden canopy are made of laminated wood produced from domestically sourced Korean larch. By choosing wood instead of steel and concrete as the core structural material, carbon emissions were reduced by more than 90%.
The wooden canopies built by Water in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon Province, and Boryeong-si and Taean-gun, Chungnam Province, provide a safe space for electric vehicle drivers to charge even on bad weather days, and also enhance visibility to indicate the location of the charging stations.
The 'AutoCharge' service, which started in February, won awards in two categories?service design and UI?at the iF Design Award. AutoCharge is a service where Water app users, after completing their first fast charge, can automatically use the fast charging service by simply connecting the connector upon arrival at the charging station for subsequent charges.
Yoo Dae-won, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Bright Energy Partners, said, "Water is an electric vehicle charging brand born to accelerate the transition to the electric vehicle era and contribute to greenhouse gas reduction. Having been consecutively recognized at global design awards, proving its innovation, we will soon become the leader in building domestic electric vehicle fast charging infrastructure."
