Regarding the 'Line Incident,' Line Plus emphasized job security at an online employee briefing.
According to industry sources on the 15th, Take Idezawa, CEO of Line Yahoo, reportedly stated at the briefing the previous day that "we will guarantee the employment of our employees."
He also expressed the importance of resolving issues with the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, which issued administrative guidance to Line Yahoo, and conveyed his intention to prepare new services well.
Earlier, on the 8th, CEO Idezawa said at the Line Yahoo financial results briefing, "We are strongly requesting changes in the parent company's capital."
Jungho Shin, Chief Product Officer (CPO) of Line Yahoo, reportedly mentioned the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' administrative guidance at the Line Plus briefing and acknowledged his own responsibility regarding security issues. When it was announced on the 8th that Jungho Shin, the only Korean member on the Line Yahoo board and effectively representing Naver, would be leaving, claims about Line Yahoo's 'erasing Naver' surfaced. Eunjeong Lee, CEO of Line Plus, reportedly emphasized at the briefing that efforts would be made to ensure employees are not discriminated against.
Line Plus issued a statement saying, "We plan to continuously create opportunities to listen carefully to the stories of our executives and employees and to share the concerns they have."
Recently, as it became known that Naver is negotiating with SoftBank and A Holdings, the major shareholder of Line Yahoo, regarding the sale of shares, about 2,500 employees of Korean subsidiaries in the Line group, including Line Plus and Line Financial, have expressed concerns about job insecurity. Naver and SoftBank each hold 50% of A Holdings' shares.
