Constitutional Court Justice Kim Hyung-doo (58, 19th Judicial Research and Training Institute) attended an international conference involving heads of constitutional courts and supreme courts from G20 member countries, where he exchanged views on various topics including the promotion of citizenship and the development of climate litigation.


On the 15th, the Constitutional Court announced that Justice Kim attended the 'J20 Summit' held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from the 12th to the 14th (local time), where he introduced South Korea's issues regarding ▲promotion of citizenship and social integration through the judiciary ▲climate litigation and sustainable development ▲digital transformation and the use of technology to improve judicial efficiency, and discussed major decisions and concerns of the Constitutional Court and courts aimed at resolving these issues.


The J20 Summit is an international conference attended by heads of constitutional courts and supreme courts from G20 member countries.


This meeting was attended by Luis Roberto Barroso, President of the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil; Stephan Harbarth, President of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany; Laurent Fabius, President of the Constitutional Council of France; Lord Reed of Allermuir, President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom; Richard Wagner, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada; Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India; and Raymond Mulangagish Jondo, President of the Constitutional Court of South Africa, who shared their respective judicial institutions’ perspectives and experiences on each topic.


Meanwhile, while transiting through the United States on the 11th (local time) to attend the J20 Summit, Justice Kim visited the 'Korean War Veterans Memorial' in the state of Georgia to honor the sacrifices of the veterans and laid a wreath.
