Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '1st Changwon City Sustainable Development Citizen Academy Graduation Ceremony' in the conference room on the 2nd floor of the Changwon Complex Cultural Center.

The 2024 'Sustainable Development Citizen Academy,' organized by the Changwon City Sustainable Development Council, is conducted in a way that delivers four carefully selected, high-quality lectures intensively within a short period (8 hours) so that many citizens can participate.
The first session of the Citizen Academy was held on the 9th and 14th, with each session lasting 4 hours and a total of 109 citizens participating. The response from the participants was very positive.
The lectures included: ▲Yoon Hoil, former head of the Antarctic King Sejong Station, sharing 'Vivid Stories of Climate Change Phenomena' experienced firsthand in Antarctica in 2003; ▲Ahn Myungseon, Director of the Institute for Sustainable Future, explaining 'Understanding the UN's Sustainable Development Goals'; ▲Lee Jungmo, former Director of the National Gwacheon Science Museum, presenting 'Climate Change and the Future of Humanity: Still, We Must Live on Earth'; and ▲Ahn Kwonwook, Vice Chairman of the Changwon City Local Decentralization Council, discussing 'Understanding Local Government Decentralization.'
At the graduation ceremony held on the 14th, Deputy Mayor Cho Myungrae stated, "Our past prosperity is reaching its limits, and now it is time for the administration, businesses, and citizens to change together in a sustainable, transparent, and responsible way. That is why the city and the Sustainable Development Council are opening the Sustainable Development Citizen Academy to inform many citizens," adding, "Let us change our lifestyles so that when our children become adults, they too can enjoy the daily life of freely drinking air and water just like the current generation."
