Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is presiding over a video conference to review current issues during an overseas visit.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon gave instructions for thorough natural disaster response and livelihood recovery measures while on a business trip to the United States and Canada.
On the 15th (local time), Governor Kim held a video conference in the U.S. with Oh Byung-kwon, the province's First Deputy Governor for Administration, Oh Hu-seok, the Second Deputy Governor for Administration, Kim Hyun-gon, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, and Cho Sun-ho, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters, receiving reports on major disaster situations such as the spring wildfire prevention period (February 1 to May 15) and the summer typhoon and flood countermeasures period (May 15 to October 15).
Governor Kim first said, "It is fortunate that there has been no major damage during the wildfire prevention period," and urged, "Please carefully manage vulnerable areas such as underground passages and riverbanks during the typhoon and flood countermeasures period to prevent any damage to residents."
He also addressed the current economic situation, stating, "Despite the high inflation, high interest rates, and low growth economic conditions, please diligently promote livelihood recovery projects in each sector that residents can actually feel."
During his North American trip, Governor Kim visited NVIDIA in the U.S. and Silicon Valley unicorn companies, met with Jay Inslee, Governor of Washington State, and strengthened international exchange and cooperation with Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, Canada, which is a sister province. Governor Kim is scheduled to return on the 18th.
