On the 14th, during CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' anchor Kim Hyun-jung was talking about the Democratic Party's National Assembly Speaker candidate primary when she said, "Four candidates initially registered for the Speaker position, but over the weekend, the traffic was sorted out quickly, leaving only two candidates, Chu Mi-ae and Woo Won-shik," and added, "In this situation, candidate Chu Mi-ae appeared somewhere yesterday and said, 'President Lee Jae-myung told me to treat him well.'"
Then, panelist Jang Sung-chul, director of the Public Opinion Center sitting next to her, immediately interjected, "Representative Lee Jae-myung," and anchor Kim showed an embarrassed smile as if realizing her mistake. She then quickly recovered by saying, "Representative Lee Jae-myung currently plays a presidential-like role within the Democratic Party," and continued the broadcast.
CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' is a weekday morning news program on CBS Standard FM that conducts real-time interviews with key figures in politics and society. In that day's broadcast, there was a discussion about why Representative Lee Jae-myung is supporting National Assembly member-elect Chu Mi-ae as the next Speaker candidate instead of pro-Lee faction lawmakers Jeong Seong-ho and Jo Jeong-sik.
Meanwhile, the program was issued a legal sanction of a "warning" by the 22nd National Assembly Election Broadcasting Deliberation Committee (Seonbangwi) last month on the 25th due to complaints that the host and guests misled public opinion regarding allegations of first lady Kim Geon-hee's luxury handbag receipt and involvement in Deutsche Motors stock manipulation. The Seonbangwi's decisions are categorized as 'no problem,' administrative guidance stages such as 'opinion presentation' and 'recommendation,' and legal sanctions including 'caution,' 'warning,' 'program correction/modification/suspension or personnel disciplinary action,' and 'fine.' Legal sanctions are applied as demerit points during broadcaster license renewals or approvals and are regarded as serious penalties.
