GPT-4o Technology Like a Movie... Domestic Startup "Expectations and Fears at the Same Time"

"We can see Sam Altman's determination to seize AI technology leadership from Google." "It has truly become human." "Domestic companies must prepare thoroughly."

Domestic startup CEOs were amazed by the advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology after seeing GPT-4o, unveiled by OpenAI on the 13th (local time).

GPT-4o can engage in real-time voice conversations with users and now possesses auditory and visual capabilities. It was reminiscent of the movie "Her," released over a decade ago, which depicted emotional exchanges between AI and humans.

Han Kyung-hoon, CEO of big data tech company InRifle, said, "GPT-4o, capable of high-level real-time conversations, will have a significant impact across various sectors of society such as business, education, and finance," adding, "It will bring a transformative era in AI technology development and utilization."

Han suggested, "It is also necessary to consider the influence it might have on creative fields like marketing and the arts," and emphasized, "Domestic AI companies must prepare for this."

Kang Ji-hong, CEO of Romin, said, "The live demo of GPT-4o showed that AI is no longer just text on a screen but has become an entity with a voice," adding, "I felt both excitement and fear about the world AI will change in the future."

Shin Hyun-jin, CEO of HudsonAI, which is developing dubbing solutions using AI, explained, "GPT-4o’s ability to understand and respond before the user finishes speaking was impressive," and added, "It seems sufficient to meet the demand for real-time interpretation and translation."

He continued, "We thought about partially incorporating such models into our products to provide better services," and said, "Since it is now almost impossible for startups to beat big tech companies in LLM development, the only option left is to utilize them well."

Kim Dong-hwan, CEO of FortyTwoMaru, evaluated, "With the full application of multimodal technology, a revolutionary event has occurred," and said, "It will be a milestone for AI deeply permeating everyday life."

Kim Jin-wook, CTO of TwoArt, analyzed, "This is a strategic move to attract the world's attention a day before Google's developer event," and added, "We can see Sam Altman's determination to continue the world's assessment that he has seized AI technology leadership from Google."

He shared his user experience, saying, "Korean language processing has also advanced dramatically, and Korean character recognition within images has become very precise," and "The length of text processed at once has become significantly longer than before."

Lee Ho-young, CEO of ToonSquare, evaluated, "It has reached a level of completeness that can be described as 'becoming human.'"

Attorney Kwon Oh-hoon (Cha & Kwon Law Office) said, "It is an update that processes audio, video, and text information simultaneously at high speed, making it most compatible with smart glasses," and added, "It seems to focus more on popularity rather than precise and professional work."
