Ulju-gun, Recruiting Scholarship Recipients for Children of Low-Income Residents

30 Students Including 2nd-3rd Year Middle School and High School Students

Ulsan City Ulju-gun will recruit scholarship recipients for children of low-income residents from the 16th of this month until the 7th of next month.

This scholarship support is being promoted to alleviate the educational expenses burden of children from low-income families and to motivate their learning through the selection of scholarship students.

The eligible recipients are children of low-income residents (basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, etc.) residing in Ulju-gun, including 2nd and 3rd-year middle school students and high school students. Based on the midterm exam scores of the first semester this year, 30 students will be recruited within 50% of the total enrollment of the respective grade.

1st-year middle school students are excluded from eligibility as their grades cannot be calculated due to the free semester system. Students who have received scholarships from other institutions such as the national government or local governments are not eligible for duplicate benefits.

Applications must be submitted by the school principal to the administrative welfare center of the student's residence by the 5th of next month. The town or township head will verify living conditions and finally recommend candidates to Ulju-gun by the 7th of next month.

Ulju-gun will select the final recipients through deliberation and resolution by the Ulju-gun Living Security Committee within next month. Scholarships will be paid twice a year, with 400,000 KRW for middle school students and 600,000 KRW for high school students, divided into two payments for the first and second half of the year.

For more details, please refer to the Ulju-gun Office or each town and township website.

County Governor Lee Soon-geol said, “We will continue to strive to reduce the economic burden on low-income students and resolve educational polarization.”
