Jeongeup-si Supports Medical Expenses and Wig Purchases for Cancer Patients

The Jeonbuk Jeongeup City Health Center announced on the 14th that it will provide support for medical expenses and wig purchase costs to reduce the financial burden on cancer patients.

The medical expense support program targets are divided into adults and children.

Among adult cancer patients, medical aid beneficiaries and low-income individuals eligible for reduced personal expenses can receive up to 3 million KRW annually, regardless of whether the expenses are covered or not.

Among pediatric cancer patients, medical aid beneficiaries are automatically selected, and health insurance subscribers undergo income and property investigations; if the criteria are met, support of up to 20 million KRW annually (30 million KRW for leukemia) is provided.

The scope of support includes cancer-related treatment costs, consultation fees, examination fees, medication costs, surgery fees, and more.

Wig purchase costs are supported up to 500,000 KRW for the personal expense portion, once only, for those eligible for the medical expense support program.

Required documents include a doctor's opinion stating the need for a wig due to hair loss caused by chemotherapy, wig purchase receipt, a copy of the bankbook, and identification card.

A city official said, "Since cancer is a disease that causes significant financial difficulties, we hope that cancer patients will receive support for medical expenses and wig purchase costs to alleviate their financial burden."
