June 17-19 This Month, 60 Million Peony Flowers in Full Bloom
Children's Union Choir Performance, Singer 'Tey' Celebration Performance
Ulsan City will hold the "2024 Taehwagang National Garden Spring Flower Festival" under the theme "Opening the Garden's Spring with Flowers" from the 17th to the 19th of this month at the Taehwagang National Garden area.
Sixty million spring flowers including poppies, peonies, cornflowers, baby's breath, and evening primroses will welcome visitors.
The opening ceremony will take place on the 17th at 7 PM on the special stage at Wangbeodeul Square, attended by about 2,000 people including Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, City Council Chairman Kim Ki-hwan, local members of the National Assembly, and Aramco Korea CEO Khalid Radi. The event will feature congratulatory speeches, an opening performance, and celebratory shows.
In particular, the congratulatory performance will feature Ulsan-born singer "Taei" at 7:30 PM, adding excitement to the hometown festival. A special performance by the Ulsan Children's United Choir is also prepared as a pre-ceremony event.
For the first time this year, the "Potato Digging Experience" event allows children to dig up potatoes that Ulsan City planted in March for the experience and take them home. This event will be held three times a day (11 AM, 2 PM, and 4 PM) on the 18th and 19th.
Due to high demand from family applicants, 70% of the spots were sold out on the first day of online registration, while 30% of the spots will be available for on-site registration on the day of the event.
Additionally, garden experience programs such as the "New Gardener Competition," "Happy Gardener," and "I am a Little Gardener," prepared to widely promote the value of Taehwagang National Garden and revitalize garden culture, were fully booked on the first day of registration.
For the first time at the spring flower festival, the city will jointly operate a garden plant clinic and consultation with the Korea Forest Service, providing citizens with information and education about companion plants.
As part of the Ulsan Happiness Tree Sharing event, booths for "Mini Garden Making" and "Companion Tree Adoption" will be operated, allowing citizens to plant and take home garden plants themselves.
Also, urban agriculture experience events such as vegetable garden exhibitions and hands-on activities, along with a "Make Your Own Bouquet" experience in cooperation with the Agricultural Technology Center, will be held in the "Experience Space" at the Picnic Yard throughout the three days of the festival.
Notably, this year the city purchased a mobile camera that rotates 360 degrees on the flower bed stage, allowing visitors to take photos from all angles. This service will be operated for a fee (1,000 KRW per person).
A city official said, "We hope visitors will fully enjoy the healing spot Taehwagang National Garden, which is dyed in green backgrounds wherever you take pictures, and challenge themselves to take memorable photos. We will do our best to manage the garden so that visitors from all over the country can enjoy the beautiful spring flowers."
