HiteJinro is expanding its environmental cleanup activities this year in celebration of the company's 100th anniversary.

On the 14th, HiteJinro announced that CEO Kim In-gyu, along with about 40 employees from the Jeonju factory and the Jeonbuk region, and Yoo Hee-tae, the governor of Wanju County, Jeonbuk, participated in environmental cleanup activities such as 'EM Soil Ball (a ball made by kneading beneficial microbial fermentation liquid and loess) throwing and making' near the Mangyeong River by the Jeonju factory.

This activity was organized as part of the 'Clear Rivers and Streams Project,' an additional plan commemorating the 100th anniversary of HiteJinro, building on the environmental restoration and cleanup activities the company has been conducting.

Participants threw 3,000 pre-made EM soil balls into the water of the Mangyeong River that day. After fermenting for a certain period, when EM soil balls are introduced into rivers or streams, they gradually dissolve, purifying the water and eliminating odors. As the ecosystem of rivers and streams recovers, it also helps absorb and reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The EM soil balls made on-site were also donated to the 'EM Life Sharing Movement' to be used in future environmental activities.

This year, HiteJinro plans to carry out environmental cleanup activities such as EM soil ball throwing and plogging starting from areas near its beer and soju factories in Wanju, Jeonbuk; Hongcheon, Gangwon; and Icheon, Gyeonggi. Subsequently, the company intends to gradually expand cleanup activities targeting major rivers and streams nationwide.

CEO Kim In-gyu said, "I hope that HiteJinro’s sincere efforts in environmental cleanup activities will spread positive influence throughout society," adding, "Through diverse and genuine activities to preserve a good environment, such as efforts to create clean water, we will fulfill our mission as a 100-year-old company."
