"Does Treating It as an Anti-Japan Area Help Naver?"
Seong Il-jong, Secretary General of the People Power Party, stated that politicizing the Line Yahoo incident is inappropriate.
On the 14th, Secretary General Seong appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' and said, "If the corporate domain is dragged into the realm of diplomacy or politics and becomes muddled, it will rather cause difficulties for the company," adding, "There has been no request from Naver to the ruling party for help, and the government and Naver are communicating well."
Secretary General Seong also criticized the provocation of anti-Japanese sentiment, seemingly targeting Jo Guk, leader of the Jo Guk Innovation Party, who visited Dokdo the day before. He said, "Is there really a reason to go to Dokdo over the Line incident?" and pointed out, "If there are indeed various threats to (Naver's) assets by the Japanese government, then all parties should respond with full force regardless of party lines, but we must carefully consider whether handling the Line incident within the realm of anti-Japanese sentiment will truly help Naver."
Regarding concerns that the recent personnel changes in the prosecution might hinder investigations related to First Lady Kim Geon-hee, wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, he rebutted, saying, "Just because a few members of the leadership have changed, does that mean the investigation will be suppressed?" and added, "Prosecutors and investigators will carry out substantive investigations on their own."
In response to criticism that the People Power Party's Emergency Response Committee is dominated by pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Seok-yeol) factions, he said, "There are well-considered aspects such as regional balance and consideration of seniority," and added, "People keep saying pro-Yoon or anti-Yoon, but I don't know who is pro-Yoon or anti-Yoon. We all think of ourselves as pro-Yoon and must work for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration."
