Preliminary Applications Accepted Until May 17, Preliminary Round at Cheongdam Lifelong Learning Center on May 18, Main Competition at Maru Park in Gaepo-dong on June 1 at 4 PM
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the "2024 Singing Korea - Gangnam-gu Edition" on June 1st from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Maru Park in Gaepo-dong.
"Singing Korea" is a nationwide singing contest where talented and passionate individuals participate. In celebration of the Gangnam-gu edition, the district plans to prepare a local festival where residents can joyfully come together in harmony.
Preliminary registration for the main competition is open until 6:00 PM on May 17th, and the preliminaries will be held on May 18th at 1:00 PM in the auditorium on the 4th floor of the Cheongdam Lifelong Learning Center. Applications for the preliminaries can be submitted online via the QR code attached to posters and banners, or in person at the local community centers and the Gangnam-gu Office’s Culture and City Department. Not only Gangnam-gu residents but also workers or students located in Gangnam-gu are eligible to apply.
On the main stage on June 1st, comedian Kim Jong-guk will serve as the host, and 10 to 12 participating teams will deliver passionate performances. After judging, a total of five winners will be selected and awarded prizes and medals as follows: ▲Grand Prize 2,000,000 KRW (1 person) ▲Excellence Award 1,000,000 KRW (1 person) ▲Encouragement Award 500,000 KRW (1 person) ▲Popularity Award 500,000 KRW (1 person) ▲Dance Award 500,000 KRW (1 person). Special guest performances by popular singers such as Tae Jin-ah, Na Sang-do, Kim Soo-chan, and Jin Hye-jin are also planned. There are 1,000 seats available for the audience, which will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event. The recorded broadcast is scheduled to air on TV Chosun from late June to early July.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, "I hope this will be a joyful festival where residents can showcase their singing skills and talents," and added, "We will continue to support various cultural events that help residents feel energized in their daily lives."
