The workshop included presentations of research projects on expanding local tax revenue and developing local taxation by city and county, followed by evaluations and awards.

Gwangyang City’s collection department officer So-Young Kim presented a research project titled "Wise Shared Mobility Life," and as a result of a heated competition among 15 cities and counties, the city received the Excellence Award in the non-tax revenue category along with a prize of 800,000 won.

The research project addressed the potential for discovering new tax sources and ways to increase revenue in response to the surge in demand from operators and users of shared mobility devices such as electric kickboards, which have rapidly emerged as new transportation means replacing public transit in the post-COVID-19 era.

Jang-Jin Cho, head of the collection department, said, "The good results at this workshop are the fruits of research activities accumulated through regular study meetings by our staff," adding, "We will continue to enhance our work capabilities and expertise by conducting ongoing studies on local tax revenue and exploring various ways to discover new tax sources."
