Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival Walking Contest to be Held at 8:30 AM on the 17th, One Day Before

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will hold the "2024 Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival Walking Contest" at 8:30 AM on the 17th.

The walking contest was organized through the cooperation of local organizations to wish for the successful hosting of the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival, which will be held from the 18th to the 25th of this month.

The event is co-hosted by the Jungnang-gu Sports Council, Jungnang-gu Christian Council, Jungnang-gu Buddhist Association, and the Seoul Jungnang 7th District of the Catholic Church, with sponsorship from Woori Bank and Dong Seoul Nonghyup.

The walking contest will take place along a 3.5 km course on the Jungnangcheon Rose Path, known as "the most desirable path to walk with loved ones," located in the Jungnangcheon area where the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival is held. Anyone can participate regardless of residence or age, and no prior registration is required. Participants should gather by 8:30 AM at the starting point, Junghwa Sports Park.

Before the start, celebratory performances including sports performances and cheerleading to boost participants' enthusiasm will be prepared. Additionally, there will be a prize drawing for those who complete the course and commemorative gifts provided on a first-come, first-served basis to add to the enjoyment.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi said, "This walking contest is especially meaningful as the Jungnang-gu Sports Council and local religious organizations have united with one heart to ensure the safe and successful hosting of the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival. I hope everyone enjoys a rich and joyful time walking the flower path full of blooming roses with family, lovers, friends, and neighbors, and also enjoys the wonderful celebratory performances."

This year, the festival's name was changed to "Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival" to emphasize the locality and historical significance of Jungnang-gu, the host district. Additionally, 8,000 more rose plants of 28 varieties were newly planted, bringing the total to 209 varieties and approximately 310,000 rose bushes, decorating the Jungnangcheon area with tens of millions of roses. Besides roses, the festival will feature the "Garden of Waiting," composed of about 60 species and 7,000 plants including iris, hydrangea, and lilac, as well as spectacular performances by popular singers such as Bae Ah-hyun, Kim Hee-jae, and Soyumi, promising a festival full of sights and entertainment.
