All medical supplies, including adult diapers distributed in Gyeonggi Province, have been found to meet safety standards.
The Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment announced on the 14th that it collected a total of 33 items in April from medical supply stores near large hospitals in the province, including 26 adult diapers and 7 adult sanitary mats, and conducted safety tests for fluorescent brighteners and formaldehyde, all of which met the standards.
Fluorescent brighteners and formaldehyde, if contained in products above the standard concentration, can cause skin irritation and pose health risks to the human body.
As the domestic elderly population increases, the demand for adult diapers is gradually rising. They are widely used by adults such as incontinence patients and people with disabilities, so it is necessary to check the ingredient names on the packaging and choose diapers suitable for the user and body shape with caution.
A representative from the Institute of Health and Environment stated, "We plan to continue conducting investigations to alleviate the concerns of vulnerable groups such as patients with weakened immunity due to long-term hospitalization and nursing care, and those at risk of skin rashes or infections."
