Osan City Public Health Center in Gyeonggi-do announced that it will conduct voluntary inspections of medical institutions and pharmaceutical businesses within the jurisdiction until the end of this month.
The inspection targets include 940 locations such as local hospitals and clinics, pharmacies, narcotics handling businesses, medical device sales (rental) and repair shops, and stores selling over-the-counter drugs.
The main inspection items are ▲whether medical practices are conducted within the scope of medical licenses and proper management of medical records (hospitals and clinics) ▲proper management of drug expiration dates, whether unqualified persons are dispensing or selling drugs, and proper management of prescriptions and dispensing records (pharmacies) ▲display of precautions and prices, and whether expired drugs are displayed or sold (stores selling over-the-counter drugs) ▲record keeping and handling storage management of narcotics (narcotics handling businesses) ▲compliance with quality management standards for medical device distribution (medical device sales and repair shops), among others.
Operators of medical institutions and pharmaceutical businesses complete the inspection checklist themselves and submit it by mail, fax, or online to complete the inspection. For businesses that fail to complete the inspection within the period or submit false or formal checklists, related agencies will conduct on-site inspections directly. The city plans to issue administrative guidance and administrative sanctions if violations are detected.
Go Dong-hoon, director of Osan City Public Health Center, said, "We hope for active participation from the relevant businesses to establish a sound pharmaceutical order and create a safe medical environment."
