On the 13th, Attorney Lee Byung-chul of the law firm Chanjong explained the reason for disclosing the materials, stating, "The purpose of revealing the materials during the ongoing trial is to uphold the constitutional principle of open trials, the public's right to know, the right to life and health, and the state's duty to protect its citizens. This is a matter of great public interest, and we want to thoroughly inform the public about the scientific basis and lawful procedures behind the government's concealment and deception regarding the increase of 2,000 medical school admissions under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration." Attorney Lee is the legal representative for the National Association of Medical School Professors (Jeonui Gyohyeop), medical students, and residents who filed a request for suspension of execution against the government, asking to halt the effect of the decision to increase and allocate medical school admissions.

Previously, on the 31st of last month, the Seoul High Court requested the government to submit additional materials and evidence related to the increase in medical school admissions, specifically detailing the procedures and timing by which the 2025 medical school admission quota is finalized according to law, and how the scale of the 2,000 increase was determined.

According to Attorney Lee, the government submitted materials such as the agenda and minutes of the Health and Medical Policy Deliberation Committee (Bojungshim), and the results of meetings from the 'Medical Workforce Expert Committee' under Bojungshim to the Seoul High Court, which is currently reviewing the appeal against the suspension of execution related to the increase in medical school admissions.

The Medical Issues Consultative Body, which did not keep minutes in consultation with the medical community, submitted a bundle of press releases, and the Medical School Quota Allocation Committee provided summarized meeting results as reference materials.

Additionally, the submission included various research materials such as the activity report of the Medical Education Inspection Team that conducted on-site inspections of medical education conditions at each university, the comprehensive plan for health and medical personnel, mid- to long-term supply and demand forecast studies, and research on the adequacy of medical personnel. Separate reference materials were provided for 'overall increase scale determination data' and 'quota allocation and subsequent measures.'

Meanwhile, Jeonui Gyohyeop and Attorney Lee plan to hold a press conference at 1 p.m. on the same day at the Korean Medical Association building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to announce the results of their verification and evaluation of the materials.
