The Going On campaign is a social contribution activity conducted by Olympus Korea and the Korean Cancer Association since 2020 to foster social empathy and emotional support for cancer survivors. The campaign name, ‘Going On,’ signifies that a beautiful life ‘continues’ even after a cancer diagnosis. The Going On Walk was held this year as well as last year at Masian Beach on Yeongjongdo Island, Incheon. Olympus Korea continues to carry out the Going On Walk at Masian Beach and Bukhansan National Park to practice environmental protection. Last year, a total of 1,890 kg of waste was collected. This is equivalent to approximately 157,550 500ml plastic bottles.

This year, about 70 participants including cancer survivors, general citizens, and Olympus Korea employees volunteered to walk around the beach and collected 245 kg of marine waste, contributing to marine environmental cleanup. In particular, at the event, Hwang Seung-yong, CEO of the environmental NGO Wipers, gave a lecture titled ‘How Ordinary Citizens Can Protect the Earth,’ adding significance to the event.

Naoki Okada, CEO of Olympus Korea, said, "As the importance of environmental protection is emerging, I find it meaningful to contribute to the two goals of improving cancer awareness and environmental cleanup through the Going On Walk this year as well as last year. We will continue the ‘Going On Campaign’ to enrich the lives of cancer survivors and pursue ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management that exerts a positive influence on society as a global medical company."

Lee Min-hyuk, President of the Korean Cancer Association, said, "Through this Going On Walk, we were once again able to confirm that cancer survivors can actively participate in various activities with passion. We will continue to think deeply and make efforts to contribute to improving cancer awareness in our society."
