"Learn Golf with AI Commentary"… SKT Launches 'A.Dot Golf' Service

'SK Telecom Open 2024' to Showcase Various AI Contents
Offering AI Highlights, Shorts, Swings, and More

SK Telecom will broadcast professional golf through its AI personal assistant 'A.Dot'. The company plans to enhance user enjoyment with various golf content utilizing generative AI.

"Learn Golf with AI Commentary"… SKT Launches 'A.Dot Golf' Service

On the 13th, SKT announced that it will launch the 'A.Dot Golf' service at the upcoming 'SK Telecom Open 2024' tournament this month. The SK Telecom Open 2024 is the 27th edition of the Korea Professional Golf Tour (KPGA) major golf tournament, held from the 16th to the 19th at Jeju Pinx GC.

SKT has designated holes 16 to 18 at Jeju Pinx GC as the 'A.Dot Corner' and plans to separately broadcast scenes of all 144 participating players, providing AI-generated highlight videos for every player.

Users watching the A.Dot broadcast will receive real-time, data-based information generated by the generative AI, such as shot success probabilities, golf trivia, and weather updates.

For example, when player A preparing for a tee shot at hole 15 appears on screen, predictive information like "Player A made a birdie at hole 15 in last year's tournament. The probability of making another birdie is 47%" will appear in the broadcast window. The AI also provides golf knowledge and suitable advice based on weather and other conditions.

The ‘AI Highlights,’ which are real-time edited key moments of players’ games provided by AI, are also noteworthy. Linked with the scorecard offered by A.Dot Golf, users can watch key scenes from each hole without missing any action.

At holes 16, 17, and 18, scenes of all 144 players playing will be filmed, marking the first time in Korea that highlights for every player will be provided.

Additionally, users can enjoy diverse golf content formats through ‘AI Shorts,’ which are vertical short videos of players’ tee shots, putting, and approach shots, and ‘AI Swing,’ which extracts and plays players’ swings in slow motion.

Various AI golf contents of A.Dot Golf are expected to be applied to all KPGA and KLPGA tournaments throughout this year.

Meanwhile, an AI version of golfer Choi Kyung-ju will also be introduced. AI-generated scripts about key tournament moments and shots will be voiced by 'AI Choi Kyung-ju,' adding to the viewing experience.
