"How about the Dolbom Car?" The Mayor of Jongno-gu Tried It Himself...

‘Eoreusin Dolbomcar’ Increased to 2 Units This Year and Operates Year-Round

"Starting this year, with the increase in vehicles, additional drivers, and extended operating hours, we are able to provide even higher quality service. We will continuously improve the service so that any senior citizen in Jongno can use the Dolbom Car comfortably and safely."

On the 10th, Jeong Munheon, the mayor of Jongno-gu, rode the "Senior Dolbom Car" with Mr. Kim Youngil, a grandfather living in Changsin-dong. After boarding the car at the Jongno Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Mayor Jeong carefully checked the operation area extending to the Changsin 2-dong Community Center and inspected whether there were any inconveniences in use.

The Senior Dolbom Car is a project first introduced nationwide by Jongno-gu in October last year. Its purpose is to improve the quality of life and create an age-friendly city by providing mobility convenience to seniors living in areas with poor transportation environments. The Dolbom Car operates daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., year-round, covering alleys without public transportation routes.

After receiving positive feedback from the pilot operation of the Dolbom Car from October to December last year, Jongno-gu increased the number of vehicles to two starting this year. The dispatch interval was shortened, and operating hours were extended from weekdays only to include weekends, making it a year-round service. After completing a makeover including developing its own logo and vehicle wrapping, the expanded operation began in February.

The Dolbom Car service is available to residents aged 65 or older who can move independently and live in Changsin 2 and 3-dong. The fare is fully covered by Jongno-gu. Users can request a dispatch through the Dolbom Car call center or wait at designated boarding and alighting points to board the vehicle. An ID card must be carried to verify age and residence.

The Dolbom Car circulates in the following order: near Exit 1 of Dongdaemun Station - Deoksan Police Substation - Changnak Senior Center - Changsin and Sungin Observatory - Jongno Comprehensive Social Welfare Center - Sanmaru Playground (turnaround) - Dongbu Women's Culture Center - Changsin 2-dong Senior Center - Changsin 2-dong Community Center.

This project originated from the idea of Mr. Kim Youngil, who rode with Mayor Jeong on this day. Jongno-gu's "Senior Dolbom Car" project was also selected as an excellent project in the 2023 National Social Security System New Establishment Consultation by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and received a ministerial citation.
