Seocho-gu to Host '2024 Seocho Dog Sports Festival' on Outdoor Stage on the 18th

Seocho-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 13th that it will hold the '2024 Seocho Dog Sports Festival,' where companion dogs and their families can enjoy healthy activities together, at the outdoor stage of Seocho Culture and Arts Park (200 Yangjae-dong) on the 18th.

This festival is organized to create special memories and spend happy moments of mutual bonding with companion dogs, who are precious family members, in celebration of May, the month of family.

The '2024 Seocho Dog Sports Festival' consists of various participatory programs such as ▲Walking with companion dogs ▲Dog Disc Competition ▲Dog Agility Competition.

The program attracting the most attention is ‘Walking with Companion Dogs.’ Companion families and their dogs can enjoy health and fun while walking along the trails of the Culture and Arts Park. Participants will complete a mission of walking with their dogs for about 20 minutes from the starting point to the finishing point within the event venue. A stamp tour related to pet etiquette will also be held at intervals along the course, and those who complete the mission and finish the walk will receive a small souvenir.

The ‘Dog Disc (Freestyle) Competition’ is a contest where participants throw discs and synchronize with their dogs to music. Teams consisting of highly skilled participants and their dogs will showcase their honed abilities. The final winning team will be selected through expert judging based on international freestyle operation standards.

The ‘Dog Agility Competition,’ hosted by a professional dog MC, will feature participants and their dogs competing in games such as ‘Hurdle Game’ and ‘Obstacle Running Game’ to demonstrate their skills. Agility is a dog sport where companion dogs jump over various obstacles following their owner’s commands. Additionally, there will be ▲‘Dog Sports Godzilla Competition,’ where owners and dogs knock down blocks together, and ▲‘Wait, Wait Competition,’ where dogs perform missions while waiting.

Side events include ▲‘Companion Animal Photo Contest’ award ceremony ▲‘Adoption Certificate Presentation’ by the Seocho Animal Love Center ▲Experiences such as making dog tug toys, name tags, and keyrings ▲Health consultations with veterinarians and behavior correction consultations with professional trainers ▲Free grooming for companion dogs ▲Caricature drawing, and more.

Detailed information and pre-registration for programs can be done through the festival’s official website or by searching ‘Seocho Dog Sports Festival.’ Some participants can also apply for program participation on-site.

Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “We expect this to be a meaningful time where companion owners and their dogs can freely run, breathe, and bond together as a family community,” adding, “We will create a mature companion culture where both people and animals are happy and coexist.”
