Gyeonggi-do Supports Environmental Improvement for 280 Housing-Vulnerable Child Households

Gyeonggi-do Supports Environmental Improvement for 280 Housing-Vulnerable Child Households

Gyeonggi Province is conducting the ‘Child Housing Poverty Household Clean Service Support Project’ for 280 low-income households with children under the age of 18 to improve their living environments.

This project provides a ‘clean service’ that includes essential disinfection and pest control to eliminate factors threatening children's health such as mold and pests, as well as wallpaper and flooring replacement, cleaning, and storage organization. Additionally, to improve housing environments vulnerable to inadequate indoor temperature maintenance, ventilation, and lighting, items such as heating and cooling devices, air purifiers, washing machines, and dryers are supported within the budget.

Selected beneficiaries will receive housing environment improvement items worth approximately 2 million KRW, including home appliances, and clean services including disinfection and pest control services worth about 1 million KRW.

Based on the 2021 child household housing condition survey, Gyeonggi Province conducted a pilot project from 2021 to 2022 and secured a budget of 840 million KRW last year through the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s ‘Lottery Fund Public Project’ to promote this project.

Kim Yongcheon, Director of the Housing Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, “We are identifying support targets in cooperation with local community child care institutions such as housing welfare centers and administrative welfare centers in each city and county, as well as local child centers and care centers. Through the project implementation agency, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (Gyeonggi Province Housing Welfare Center), we are promoting the project to ensure timely support tailored to the beneficiaries, and we will continue to strive to improve the housing environment of children’s households in need of support.”
