'Gangcheon Myeonsamuso~Sinreuksa' 11.2km Section
Estimated 3 Hours 45 Minutes... Difficulty 'Very Easy'
The Gyeonggi Dullegil 'Yeoju Course 33' is an 11.2 km section that runs from Gangcheon-myeon Office to Gaya 1-ri Village Hall, passing by Moga Museum and in front of the Chabon headquarters, ending at Silleuksa Temple. The estimated time required is 3 hours and 45 minutes. The difficulty level is classified as 'very easy.'
The starting stamp placed at Gangcheon-myeon Office features an illustration of Moga Museum. Opened in 1990, Moga Museum houses over 6,000 artifacts and materials including Buddhist statues, Buddhist paintings, and Buddhist woodcrafts that showcase domestic Buddhist culture. In particular, visitors can view exhibits designated as national treasures. Various sculptures and Buddhist artworks with diverse expressions are installed throughout the museum, making it a great place to take various photos.
After leaving Gangcheon-myeon Office and walking for a short while, you enter a quiet village road. Following the village road, which is located on the southern slope of the mountain, you will eventually reach the Yeo River. The people of Yeoju call the Namhan River section passing through Yeoju the Yeo River. The Namhan River is the main stream of the Han River, originating from Geomryongso spring on Geumdaebong Peak in Taebaek-si, Gangwon-do. The water starting from Geomryongso joins Songcheon at Auraji, then receives Odaecheon, formerly called Utongsu, at Najeon, becoming the Joyang River. The Joyang River becomes the Dong River as it passes through Gaseuri in Jeongseon, and finally meets the Seo River in Yeongwol-eup, becoming the Namhan River.
Walking along the river, when you see Gangcheonbo Dam in the distance, you temporarily part ways with the Yeo River. After passing Moga Museum again, you can meet the Yeo River once more. Taking a detour along Geumdangcheon Stream and following the forest path leads to Silleuksa Temple. Silleuksa is said to have been founded during the reign of King Jinpyeong of Silla. The temple, located right in front of the river, holds 8 nationally designated treasures and 5 cultural assets designated by Gyeonggi Province. Upon arriving at Silleuksa and stamping the arrival stamp, the Yeoju Course 33 comes to an end.
