Korean business leaders visiting Japan to attend the Korea-Japan Business Council will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss ways to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to the business community on the 12th, the delegation of the Korea-Japan Business Council, led by Kim Yoon, chairman of the Korea-Japan Economic Association and chairman of Samyang Holdings, will depart for Tokyo, Japan on the 13th to visit the Japanese government and key institutions.
The delegation is expected to hold meetings with senior Japanese government officials, including Prime Minister Kishida, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Gen Saito, and Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa. Also included in the delegation are Cho Hyun-joon, chairman of Hyosung Group and special chairman for Korea-Japan exchange at the Korea International Trade Association, and Jin Ok-dong, chairman of Shinhan Financial Group and a financial expert on Japan.
This meeting serves as a preliminary event ahead of the Korea-Japan Business Council, where business leaders from both countries gather to explore economic cooperation measures. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea-Japan Economic Association will hold the 56th Korea-Japan Business Council under the theme "Korea-Japan Partnership Leading to the Future" from the 13th to the 16th (main conference on the 14th and 15th) at the Okura Hotel in Tokyo, in collaboration with the Japan-Korea Economic Association and the Japan-Korea Industrial Technology Cooperation Foundation.
About 300 business leaders from both countries, including Chairman Kim, SK Group Chairman and Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Chey Tae-won, and Mikio Sasaki, chairman of the Japan-Korea Economic Association and former chairman of Mitsubishi Corporation, will attend the conference.
The Korea-Japan Business Council is a representative private-sector economic conference between Korea and Japan. Since its first meeting in 1969, it has been held alternately in both countries every year and has played a central role in Korea-Japan cooperation.
