Motorcycle and Passenger Car Collision Accident
"People Must Be Rescued Immediately When an Accident Occurs"
A car driver who immediately started taking photos after getting out of the car while a motorbike rider hit by the car was lying on the ground has been captured, drawing criticism.
On the 10th, JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' revealed dashcam footage filmed on the morning of the 3rd on a road in Gyeongsangnam-do.
The video showed a collision between a motorbike crossing a pedestrian crossing at a red light and a car making a left turn.
The car driver, Mr. A, did not violate the signal. However, he seemed not to have noticed the motorbike on the side and did not reduce speed. The motorbike collided with the side of the car and fell over, and the rider, Mr. B, collapsed on the ground. Shortly after, Mr. A got out of the car, briefly appeared to check on Mr. B, who was clutching his waist on the ground, but then took out his phone and started taking pictures of the accident scene.
Afterwards, he was seen in the dashcam footage looking around in confusion, appearing to be cautious, and just standing idly.
Attorney Park Ji-hoon, who appeared on the program, expressed regret, saying, "The motorbike rider could have been seriously injured and was continuously groaning, so it would have been right to take care of the person first. Taking photos can be done afterward." He added, "According to the Road Traffic Act, people must be immediately rescued when an accident occurs, so there is a possibility of punishment."
Meanwhile, on February 3rd at around 4:35 a.m., famous DJ Ahn (24), who caused an accident by hitting a motorbike while driving a Mercedes-Benz under the influence in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, also sparked controversy for failing to properly provide first aid to the victim while holding his pet dog.
In a later interview with the media, Mr. Ahn explained the reason for holding the dog at the time, saying, "Right after the accident, I did not see the victim and was not aware that I had hit a person. Many people gathered around the car, so I got out of the car, and since the dog was barking loudly and the scene was noisy, I was told to hold the dog, so I held it."
Later, Mr. Ahn's side claimed, "If the delivery worker had followed the Road Traffic Act, the accident would not have happened," and stated, "We do not deny the charges. Please consider the fact that the two-wheeler did not comply with the Road Traffic Act when sentencing," arguing the victim's fault, which caused further controversy.
