President Biden in his 80s slips again
"Kim Jong-un is South Korea's president," he says
Also refers to President Yoon as 'President Moon'
Confuses names Zelensky and Putin as well
U.S. President Joe Biden made a mistake on the 10th (local time) by referring to North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un as the 'President of South Korea.'
According to the New York Post and others, President Biden made remarks targeting former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, at a fundraising reception held in Portola Valley, California, on the same day.
While mentioning the 'love letters' between former President Trump and Chairman Kim, President Biden said, "We will never forget his love letters sent to Kim Jong-un, the South Korean President, or his praise for Putin."
President Biden directly criticized, "Chaos is nothing new to Trump. His presidency was chaos."
President Biden said, "Trump is trying to make us forget how bleak and unstable the situation was when he left the (White House) office," adding, "But we will not forget."
The New York Post reported, "Biden's slip of the tongue came just over a year after inviting President Yoon Suk-yeol to a state dinner," noting that "the two spent time together at a summit held at Camp David in August last year."
In May 2022, during his visit to South Korea, Biden toured the Samsung Electronics semiconductor plant in Pyeongtaek and mistakenly referred to President Yoon as 'President Moon.' President Biden later immediately corrected himself, saying, "Yoon, thank you for everything you have done so far."
President Biden, who is elderly, has been embroiled in controversies due to repeated verbal slips in official settings. The Republican Party has used his verbal mistakes as material to highlight Biden's 'age risk' ahead of the November presidential election.
On April 1st last month, at an Easter event held at the White House, President Biden mispronounced the word 'Easter,' saying, "Greet the 'oyster' rabbits." In March, while announcing a plan to airlift relief supplies to the Gaza Strip in Palestine, he confused Gaza with Ukraine. Earlier this year, he also confused former German Chancellor Angela Merkel with the late Helmut Kohl, who passed away in 2017.
In July last year, during a NATO summit press conference held in Lithuania, he mistakenly confused the name of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with Vladimir Putin. While President Zelenskyy was present, President Biden said, "Vladimir and I should not be that familiar."
