Seocho-gu is the only district in Seoul to achieve SA for 8 consecutive years
District Mayor Jeon Seongsu: "We will carry out campaign promises without delay"
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 10th that it has received the highest grade, 'SA,' in the '2024 Nationwide Basic Local Government Heads Pledge Fulfillment and Information Disclosure Evaluation' conducted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.
Among the local governments that received the highest grade 'SA' in this year's Manifesto Pledge Fulfillment Evaluation, Seocho-gu is the only autonomous district in Seoul to have received the 'SA' grade for eight consecutive years.
This Manifesto Pledge Fulfillment Evaluation was conducted by the Korea Manifesto Evaluation Group targeting 226 local governments nationwide from February. The evaluation covered five areas: ▲pledge completion ▲achievement of pledge goals ▲resident communication ▲web communication ▲pledge consistency. Based on the results, local governments scoring 83 points or higher out of a total of 100 points were classified into five grades from D to the highest grade SA, with SA being awarded to those scoring above 83 points.
The achievement of the 'SA' grade for eight consecutive years is interpreted as a result of faithfully fulfilling promises made to residents during the 8th local government term. Seocho-gu transparently manages pledge implementation plans and quarterly progress reports on its district website, systematically managing them, and received high evaluations for its efforts in resident communication, including web communication that guarantees diverse resident participation and the operation of the Resident Policy Evaluation Group.
Seocho-gu is promoting a total of 74 projects across eight major areas as pledges for the 8th local government term: ▲transportation for building a convenient transportation system ▲urban infrastructure for efficient urban development ▲safety to protect residents from various disasters ▲environment and health for a pleasant living environment and healthy life ▲youth and economy for revitalizing the local economy and creating youth jobs ▲welfare for walking together with the vulnerable ▲childcare and education for creating a safe environment ▲culture and sports for easily enjoying rich infrastructure in daily life.
Representative pledge implementation projects include ▲three-dimensional development of the Gyeongbu arterial road ▲construction of Yangjae public parking lot ▲promotion of reconstruction and redevelopment projects ▲expansion of intelligent CCTV ▲maintenance projects for Banpo Stream, Yangjae Stream, and Yeoui Stream ▲creation of Yangjae AI Future Convergence Innovation District ▲discovery of local representative commercial districts and revitalization of alleyway commercial areas ▲expansion of support policies for single-person households ▲creation of Seocho Music and Culture District and Banpodaero Cultural and Arts Street ▲construction of Bangbae Forest Environmental Library ▲creation of Yangjae Stream outdoor swimming pool.
To promote these projects, the district is strengthening budget securing for pledges and cooperation with related organizations, and is implementing 'Seocho-type administration' that is 'happy today and looking forward to tomorrow' through meticulous and proactive communication with residents. In April, the district held a pledge inspection meeting, focusing its administrative capabilities on pledge projects at the two-year mark since the launch of the 8th local government term.
Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, "We will open our hearts to residents' voices, listen carefully, and practice empathetic, performance-oriented, and sharing administration by listening to voices from the field and finding solutions, and will carry out vigorous and proactive 'responsive administration.' We will not be complacent with achievements and will steadily promote pledge fulfillment," he said.
