Selected as an Excellent Case in Local Government Innovation Contest, ‘Damyang-eup Public Laundry’ Receives Praise

One-Stop Service for Large Laundry Pickup, Washing, Drying, and Delivery

The 'Public Laundry' in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do is receiving great response from residents.

According to Damyang-gun on the 10th, the Damyang-eup Community Security Council (co-chairs Ha Jongsam and Kang Seongryeong) operates the 'Damyang-eup Public Laundry,' providing laundry services for disabled people with mobility difficulties and elderly people living alone.

The Damyang-eup Public Laundry was selected as an excellent program in the 2023 Ministry of the Interior and Safety Local Government Innovation Performance Expansion Support Contest and began operation. It is credited as the driving force behind winning awards in the 2023 Eup, Myeon, Dong field administrative evaluation.

Operating for five months since November last year, the public laundry used welfare human resource networks such as life support workers for elderly living alone and activity support workers for the disabled to wash bedding for 98 households, totaling over 200 pieces.

In particular, it is praised for resolving the concerns of vulnerable groups who have difficulty washing and live in unsanitary sleeping environments by providing a one-stop service from bedding collection to washing, drying, and delivery.

Kang Seongryeong, the public committee chair, said, “We will continue to carefully observe welfare demands and actively carry out resident-centered welfare projects.”
