To enhance the competitiveness of the rice industry, maintain the high quality of rice, and secure sales channels for farmers during the harvest season, Gumi City established the Gumi City Nonghyup Rice Cooperative Joint Business Corporation in 2020 with the participation of all seven local Nonghyup branches. In 2021, it was selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' 'High-Quality Rice Distribution Activation Project,' and after groundbreaking in November 2022, the project was completed this year.

The Gumi Integrated RPC was built on the site of the existing Seonsan Nonghyup RPC, covering a project area of 20,472㎡, a building area of 4,079㎡, with a total project cost of 19.9 billion KRW (national 6.9 billion, provincial 1 billion, city 3.4 billion, self-funded 8.6 billion KRW).

As processing facilities, it is equipped with two lines each for brown rice and white rice, robot automatic packaging machines, color sorters, vibrating sorters, metal detectors, and various other state-of-the-art automatic systems that filter out foreign substances, enabling the production of high-quality rice.

For drying and storage facilities, three raw material input lines, ten circulation dryers, and fifteen 500-ton storage silos have been installed, creating large-scale drying and storage facilities expected to produce up to 20,000 tons of delicious Gumi rice annually.

Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “With the completion of the Gumi Integrated RPC equipped with cutting-edge facilities, I hope Gumi rice becomes the nation's top premium rice,” and added, “We will continue to implement various policies to foster the high-quality rice brand.”
