On the 9th, a post titled "My husband ate raw meat thinking it was marinated meat salad?can you understand this?" was uploaded on an online community. The author, A, who lives with her husband and father, said, "My father is resting at home, and my husband is working from home. I commute to work, and since my father and husband usually have different meal times, they eat separately," adding, "My father has been cooking for a long time and still cooks every day."

A explained the situation: "While my father had marinated the meat and briefly went outside to take out the trash, my husband sent me a photo saying he was eating the marinated meat with rice, thinking it was 'meat salad.'" She continued, "He thought it was a dish where only the meat was blanched separately and mixed with various vegetables like onions and gochujang (red chili paste)." She expressed her disbelief, saying, "Before eating properly, he tasted only the meat and said it was cooked, so he went ahead and ate it. But the meat was raw, thawed pork belly that had been frozen."

Looking at the photo A shared, the meat is mixed in red seasoning with various vegetables such as onions, zucchini, and green onions. The meat is red and uncooked, and the vegetables are still crisp. A said, "I was shocked because I naturally thought this was marinated meat. I don't think this is a common mistake that can be easily confused," and added, "Although I have felt that my husband's perception and judgment are often strange to the point of being unreasonable, this seems serious."

She continued, "I told my husband that this was not normal because I thought it was a serious issue, but he said he felt bad because it seemed like he was being criticized for his behavior rather than me worrying about him eating raw meat and getting sick," and asked, "Am I overreacting or worrying too much? Is this really a mistake that can be made thinking it’s meat salad?"

Netizens who read the story reacted with shock, saying things like, "Even if you could mistake it, you would realize it after one bite, so this is strange," "Not being able to distinguish between raw and cooked meat is serious," "This is the most shocking post I've seen recently," "It's not about worrying about food poisoning from eating raw meat, but maybe he needs to see a doctor for other reasons," "There seems to be a problem. The meat would be soft and squishy; I don't know how he just ate it," and "Anyone can see it's raw meat; how could it look like cooked meat?"

Meanwhile, consuming undercooked raw meat can cause health problems such as food poisoning. Major pathogens causing food poisoning from raw meat include Salmonella, Clostridium perfringens, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, and Campylobacter. Symptoms of food poisoning include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, fever, and headache.

■ Food Poisoning Prevention Tips
- Purchase only fresh ingredients in the necessary amounts and avoid storing them near appliances that generate high heat, such as dishwashers.
- Wash hands with soap or hand sanitizer for at least 30 seconds before cooking and after handling raw meat, fish, or eggs.
- Soak vegetables in chlorine disinfectant (vinegar can be used) for more than 5 minutes, then wash them at least three times with water.
- Use washed and disinfected vegetables within 2 hours or refrigerate immediately.
- Cook raw meat thoroughly until the inside is fully cooked, and consume kimchi only after it is sufficiently fermented.
- Do not leave cooked food at room temperature; consume it as soon as possible within 2 hours.
