10 Years Since the First Hongdae Branch Opened
Mega MGC Coffee announced on the 10th that it has opened the Oido branch in Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, surpassing 3,000 franchise stores for the first time among domestic cost-effective coffee brands.
This milestone of reaching 3,000 stores comes 10 years after opening the first branch in Hongdae. Mega MGC Coffee started with the Hongdae branch in 2015, surpassed 1,000 stores in 2020 after 5 years, reached 2,000 stores in 2022, and has now achieved 3,000 stores this month.
Mega MGC Coffee attributes the key to surpassing 3,000 stores to its policy of prioritizing franchise owners' profits. When launching new menus, Mega MGC Coffee creates a profit and loss structure from the start that ensures sufficient margins for franchisees, while the headquarters absorbs as much as possible the pressure from rising costs of various raw materials and simultaneously strengthens sourcing capabilities to achieve economies of scale. In particular, it selects and awards outstanding franchise stores quarterly based on compliance with operating manuals, recording the lowest closure rate in the coffee industry (0.4% as of 2022).
Kim Daeyoung, CEO of Mega MGC Coffee, stated, "We avoid setting quantitative goals such as opening a certain number of franchise stores per year, and instead focus on ensuring that each franchise achieves sufficient profits so that owners can feel happiness for a long time." He added, "We will also strive to increase customer enjoyment by offering trendy yet reasonable prices."
