Nowon-gu District Mayor Oh Seung-rok Holds Meeting with Salvadoran Ambassador to Korea

Nowon-gu District Mayor Oh Seung-rok Holds Meeting with Salvadoran Ambassador to Korea

On the 9th at 1 PM, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, held a meeting with the Ambassador of El Salvador to Korea at the 'Cafe Train Scenery' cafe (608 Hwarang-ro, Nowon-gu).

El Salvador, with over 100 years of coffee history, has natural conditions suitable for coffee cultivation. Since 1990, the coffee industry has been promoted as a national key industry, and currently about 12% of the entire territory is designated as coffee farms.

The characteristic of El Salvador coffee is that the beans are relatively large but light in weight, with a distinct harmony of acidity and sweetness. Although the taste varies by region, it is known as the representative of Central American mild coffee.

This meeting was held following the invitation from the district to discuss the operation of the El Salvador booth at the '2nd Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Road Coffee Festival' scheduled for May 12 this year, to which the Ambassador of El Salvador to Korea responded.

During the meeting, discussions were held regarding advice for the successful hosting of the coffee festival, operation of the El Salvador coffee culture experience booth, guidance for coffee competition congratulatory speeches, and other event-related matters, sharing various opinions in a warm atmosphere.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, “I thank the Ambassador of El Salvador to Korea for accepting the invitation,” and added, “I hope this year’s coffee festival will expand beyond coffee bean tasting to become a rich festival that serves as a cultural exchange venue, including experiencing the coffee culture of the coffee-producing country.”
