"Second and Fourth Friday Night Markets, Come Visit Us"
The Maeil Market Night Market in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, will reopen starting from the 10th.
According to the county on the 9th, the Maeil Market Merchants Association (President Park Gi-yong) will operate the night market on the second and fourth Fridays of every month beginning on the 10th.
First launched last year, the Maeil Market Night Market will this year be supported by the Haenam Old Downtown Revitalization Project, offering a variety of cultural performances, youth mall workshop experiences, and visitor event programs to create a richer and more enjoyable night market.
After being operated independently by the Merchants Association in May, from June onward, the ‘Daldal Night Walk’ program will be officially run by the Haenam Culture and Tourism Foundation as part of the Haenam-eup Old Downtown Commercial Area Revitalization Project.
In particular, focusing on the four major drinking categories?Chimaek (chicken and craft beer), Muso (seasoned dishes and soju), Bumaek (pancakes and Makgeolli), and Geonpok (dried seafood and bomb cocktails)?each store plans to newly develop and sell distinctive finger foods, drawing attention to the traditional market’s unique transformation.
President Park Gi-yong of the Merchants Association said, “We are preparing wholeheartedly so that families, friends, and couples can enjoy a pleasant night market outing,” adding, “We will work with the merchants to establish the Maeil Market Night Market as a distinctive cultural feature of Haenam.”
Meanwhile, after completing modernization through the construction of a new market building, the Haenam Maeil Market Night Market, which began operating for the first time last year, has gained a reputation as a must-visit weekend evening event, creating another opportunity to revitalize the traditional market and receiving favorable reviews.
