Role of Fisheries Science for the 6th Industry Theme... Sponsored by Jeollanam-do and 12 Other Institutions and Companies
National Mokpo University (President Song Ha-cheol) announced that it will hold the 'Spring Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Fisheries Science (President Lim Han-gyu)' at the Namak Campus of National Mokpo University for two days from the 9th to the 10th, under the theme of 'The Role of Fisheries Science for the 6th Industry.'
This academic conference is jointly hosted by the Korean Society of Fisheries Science, the National Mokpo University Tidal Flat Research Institute, and the Marine Bionics Convergence Research Institute, with sponsorship and participation from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Jeollanam-do, and 12 other organizations and companies.

The conference will begin with a keynote lecture by Choi Yong-seok, Director of the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute, on 'Fisheries Policy and the Role of Fisheries Science for the Future Industrialization of Fisheries,' followed by special expert lectures on the future direction of fisheries, including 'The 6th Industry and Fisheries' and 'Directions for Expanding the Youth Population in Preparation for the Disappearance of Fishing Village Populations.'
Additionally, more than 200 research results will be presented across three sessions: aquaculture and biotechnology, resources, marine and environment, and fisheries utilization and processing. To provide students with opportunities to directly participate in solving fisheries issues, an 'On-site Practical Problem-Solving Competition' will also be held.
Lim Han-gyu, President of the Korean Society of Fisheries Science, stated, "This academic conference will be a starting point for transforming fisheries, which have been labor-intensive primary production and simple processing-centered, into a future industry producing blue food based on big data-driven intelligent production systems."
The Korean Society of Fisheries Science, established in 1955, is an academic organization that has supported technological development in various fields for the advancement of Korea's fisheries industry. It has over 1,000 members participating from academia, industry, government agencies, and all sectors related to fisheries.
