Gwangju Shinsegae, A Pair of Shoes for Me, High-End Also OK!

Hunter Rain Boots Pop-up on Main Building 1st Floor Until the 19th

As ‘value consumption’ for oneself increases, high-priced shoes such as rain boots and slippers costing well over 100,000 won are gaining popularity and selling out.

Value consumption refers to bold spending based on the values one pursues, mainly among the MZ generation, which has emerged as a core consumer group.

‘Hunter (HUNTER)’, which opened on the 3rd floor of the main building of Gwangju Shinsegae in March, is a brand launched in the UK in 1856, famous for its rain boots. Especially, it is the first store in the Gwangju area to open in Gwangju Shinsegae, allowing customers to try on and choose from a variety of rain boots ranging from adult to kids’ products, attracting continuous visits from customers.

To meet this demand, Gwangju Shinsegae is holding a pop-up event titled ‘Hunter Rain Boots Fashion Proposal’ at the pop-up zone on the 1st floor of the main building from the 10th to the 19th. This pop-up will also feature clothing items not available in the store.

Hunter boots are made of 100% natural rubber, offering excellent durability, superior comfort on all terrains, and shock absorption for added comfort.

The representative products are the Original Play Tall Rain Boots priced at 169,000 won and the Original Play Short Rain Boots at 149,000 won. The Play boots are best sellers created by combining the iconic design and practicality of the Original boots, featuring the Hunter signature back label and a rounded toe design that is easier to style than the Original.

Additionally, ‘UGG’, located on the 3rd floor of the main building, is gaining popularity with summer sandals following the winter boots that caused a sell-out. The recently released ‘Golden Glow Platform Strap Sandals’ sold out at Gwangju Shinsegae despite the price of 178,000 won.

The representative product currently available at the department store is the ‘Stratus Sporty Strap Sandals’, made famous by global ambassador ‘NewJeans’ Hanni, priced at 158,000 won.

The ultra cushioning of the Stratus, made with sugarcane midsoles and outsoles, provides a lightweight feel, and the detachable back strap and adjustable buckle offer both sophistication and comfort, making it popular.

Kim Eun-seok, head of the accessories team at Gwangju Shinsegae, said, “As consumption for oneself increases, more consumers are purchasing items they need and like even if the price is high,” adding, “We will strive to introduce various products to meet this demand.”
