On the 9th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the '21st Automobile Day' commemorative event at the JW Marriott Hotel Seoul in Seocho-gu, Seoul, attended by about 300 automobile industry officials and First Vice Minister Kang Kyung-sung.
Hosted by the Korea Automobile Mobility Industry Association and the Korea Automobile Industry Cooperative, the commemorative event awarded government honors such as industrial medals and industrial decorations to 34 individuals who contributed to the development of the automobile industry.
Yang Hee-won, President of R&D Headquarters at Hyundai Motor Company and Kia, received the Silver Tower Industrial Medal for contributions to the development of an integrated platform for Hyundai and Kia vehicle bodies, and Han Do-jun, CEO of Samik Kiryu, a specialized driving and braking parts company, received the Bronze Tower Industrial Medal. Kim Ji-hoon, CEO of Sunil Die-Pass, Park Dong-jae, Director of Renault Korea, and Oh Jeong-gi, CEO of Hyundai Hitec, received industrial decorations.
Vice Minister Kang Kyung-sung said, "In a global economic environment with high uncertainty due to inter-country hegemony competition, nationalism, and supply chain disruptions, our automobile industry must overcome challenges such as the slowdown in electric vehicle growth and the pursuit by latecomers together," adding, "We will focus on improving corporate-friendly laws and systems and resolving various corporate difficulties to ensure the automobile industry secures future leadership."
