Gongju City Conducts 'Mission Tour'... Travel Expenses Supported Up to 100,000 Won

On the 9th, Gongju City in Chungnam announced that it will conduct the ‘Gongju Mission Tour’ for tourists.

The ‘Gongju Mission Tour’ provides travel expenses on a tiered basis depending on the amount spent when using local businesses: 50,000 KRW for spending over 100,000 KRW, and 100,000 KRW for spending over 200,000 KRW.

Tourists are required to visit major tourist attractions and experience facilities such as Gongsanseong Fortress, Muryeongwang Tomb, Seokjang-ri Museum, Hanok Village, and Gyeryongsan Ceramic Village, as well as accommodations, restaurants, and cafes in Gongju City. Afterward, they must post receipts, travel reviews, and mandatory hashtags on their personal social media (SNS).

However, uploads and submission of supporting documents must be completed within 7 days after the trip.

In particular, those who post travel reviews with their companion dogs will receive souvenirs on a first-come, first-served basis to 80 people. However, cultural heritage sites such as Gongsanseong Fortress, Muryeongwang Tomb, and Seokjang-ri Museum prohibit pets other than service dogs for the disabled to preserve and manage the cultural assets.

The city will recruit a total of 240 teams, 80 teams per session, over three sessions for groups of 10 or fewer tourists traveling to Gongju.

The first session will accept applications on a first-come, first-served basis starting from the 13th and will run until July 14. It will close early if the budget is exhausted.

Those wishing to participate can apply through the Gongju Cultural Tourism Foundation website, and the city will select participants by comprehensively considering travel dates and plans.

Mayor Choi Won-cheol said, “Through this stay-type travel support program, we hope to provide opportunities to experience various parts of Gongju and leave a lasting impression of Gongju’s charm on the participants.”
