All Top Market Cap Stocks Including Samsung Electronics Underperform
Q1 Earnings Improvement Stocks Take Flight
The domestic stock market showed a slightly weak trend during the morning session on the 9th. Foreign investors had maintained a 'buy' trend based on closing prices in the KOSPI market for seven consecutive trading days until the previous day, but currently, they are showing a selling dominance. Major stocks by market capitalization, including Samsung Electronics, also appear to be struggling.
As of 10:30 a.m. on the day, the KOSPI index recorded 2,740.92, down 4.13 points (0.15%) from the previous session. The index started at 1,743.29, down 0.06% from the previous session, and maintained a weak trend during the session.
By sector, most showed a flat trend. Electric and gas utilities (3.10%) and transportation and warehousing (1.63%) were on the rise, while pharmaceuticals (-0.81%) and securities (-0.71%) experienced relatively larger declines. There were 441 advancing stocks, 413 declining stocks, and 78 stocks unchanged.
By investor type, foreigners (-88.2 billion KRW) and individuals (-1.1 billion KRW) both engaged in selling, while institutions net purchased stocks worth 93.3 billion KRW.
All 10 of the top market capitalization stocks were in decline. Samsung Electronics (-0.49%), SK Hynix (-0.11%), LG Energy Solution (-1.53%), Samsung Biologics (0%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (-0.60%), Hyundai Motor (-1.65%), Kia (-1.29%), Celltrion (-2.16%), and POSCO Holdings (-0.25%) all showed a gloomy outlook.
Among individual stocks, Naver, caught up in the 'Line-Yahoo incident,' showed a weak trend early in the session. Naver is trading at 187,900 KRW, down 1.57%, as the possibility of 'Line,' Japan's top messenger, becoming a Japanese company has come to the forefront. W Games rose about 3% following strong first-quarter earnings, and NHN, which also posted a first-quarter earnings surprise, rose more than 9%.
Meanwhile, at the same time, the KOSDAQ index recorded 871.95, down 0.47 points (0.05%) from the previous session. The index started at 871.17, down 0.14%, and maintained a slightly weak trend.
