GS25, operated by GS Retail, announced on the 9th that it will exclusively launch a new mashup concept snack product called ‘Kancho-tad,’ jointly planned with Lotte Wellfood. This product combines Lotte Wellfood’s steady sellers ‘Kancho’ and ‘Custard,’ replacing the chocolate inside the Kancho biscuit with custard-flavored cream filling. GS25 explained that as social media ‘ 인증샷’ (proof shots) have become a key factor in product success, the teams from both companies added fun elements to the product before its release.

Eat a Lunchbox, Get Bitcoin, and Donate... Emart24 Sells 'Bitcoin Lunchbox'

Emart24 announced on the 9th that it will sell ‘Bitcoin Lunchboxes’ in collaboration with the cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb. The Bitcoin Lunchbox is presented in a golden round container reminiscent of Bitcoin and includes omurice, menchukatsu, meatballs, French fries, and pickled radish. The lunchbox comes with a coupon that allows customers to receive up to 30,000 KRW worth of Bitcoin. After purchasing the Bitcoin Lunchbox, customers can scan the coupon’s QR code, enter the coupon number in the Bithumb app, complete customer verification, and agree to receive SMS notifications to receive approximately 10,000 KRW worth of Bitcoin. Bithumb will donate the same number of Bitcoin Lunchboxes to vulnerable groups as the quantity sold at Emart24 by the 31st. The price is 5,900 KRW.

Coca-Cola announced on the 9th that Powerade, the official sports drink of the 2024 Paris Olympics, has launched the ‘Powerade Olympic Special Package.’ This special package was designed to celebrate the successful hosting of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics and to support the Korean national athletes competing in the Games. The package features illustrations symbolizing the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Olympic rings, the official Olympic logo. The Olympic Special Package is applied to ‘Powerade Mountain Blast.’

Shinsegae Food Launches Temple-Style Bakery for Buddha’s Birthday

Shinsegae Food announced on the 9th that it will launch temple-style bakery products in collaboration with temple food researcher Park Seong-hee to celebrate Buddha’s Birthday. The new temple-style bakery product, ‘Lotus Leaf Glutinous Pie,’ will be available at bakery stores ‘Boulangerie’ and ‘E Bakery’ inside Emart nationwide. Temple-style food refers to meals consumed by monks during their practice in temples, made by combining and cooking plant-based ingredients. The Lotus Leaf Glutinous Pie was inspired by lotus leaf wraps and includes lotus leaf powder, topped with almond slices and pumpkin seeds. The price is 6,980 KRW. Additionally, Shinsegae Food will re-release the ‘Lotus Flower Red Bean Bread’ introduced last year for Buddha’s Birthday. Both temple-style bakery products will be sold until the 15th, with a 10% discount available from the 10th to the 15th.
