Gangjin-gun Agricultural Technology Center Receives Positive Response for 'Main Crop Learning Class' Designing Agricultural Startups

"Settling in Gangjin, Confidence Transformed with Conviction" Bursting with Confidence

Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do is receiving great responses for operating the agricultural startup design program ‘Main Crop Learning Classroom,’ which provides various crop selection options and encourages quick settlement for new farmers taking their first steps in agriculture.

According to the county on the 9th, the Main Crop Learning Classroom started last month and will be held 16 times until the end of May. The education is conducted on-site by selecting excellent leading farms in the region, focusing on successful cases in food crops, horticulture, livestock, floriculture, and more.

This educational program is designed to reduce failure rates after returning to farming and increase income by transferring leading farm technical know-how, including agricultural techniques and experiences of initial trial and error. It targets prospective new farmers dreaming of returning to farming who are choosing crops or those wishing to switch crops.

Prospective new farmer Ma Gyuseon, who participated in the education, said, “My confidence in settling in Gangjin has changed to certainty. Through this education, I was able to compare the pros and cons of various crops and choose the one that suits me, and I am very satisfied with the process.”

Choi Young-ah, head of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “The agricultural startup design education broadens the range of crop choices, which is the most important before and after returning to farming, and plays a significant role in reducing farming failures. Based on future capacity-building education, we will provide a ‘Smart Agricultural Startup Solution’ that connects and expands accumulated technology and experience in the agricultural sector from production to distribution and startup.”

Meanwhile, the Gangjin-gun Agricultural Technology Center’s New Farmer Support Team is actively responding to local extinction and increasing agricultural jobs by conducting various educational projects for new farmers, returnees, and hopefuls, including △new farmer agricultural technology improvement education △mentor-mentee customized education △practical organic farming education.
