Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Changwon City Donate to 'Raising Multiple Children Together' Project.
Attending the donation ceremony were Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City; Park Jung-woo, Chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Social Contribution Committee; Song Jeong-ah, Vice Chairman; Baek Si-chul, Executive Vice Chairman; and Jo Yoo-jin, Head of the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, among others.
Changwon City provides up to 2 million won as a childbirth congratulatory grant and 3 million won as a first meeting voucher upon the birth of a child. In addition to this, the city has been promoting the “Raising Multiple Children Together” project since this year, which recruits sponsors from companies, organizations, and individuals to provide an additional 1 million won for the birth of a third child or more.
This project aims to reduce the economic burden on families with multiple children in raising and nurturing them and to foster a child-rearing friendly atmosphere where the local community celebrates together. Currently, six companies and organizations are participating, raising 115.2 million won, and 37 families have received support.
The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Social Contribution Committee plans to expand the culture of corporate social contribution in the region by organizing projects supporting children from food-insecure families and people with disabilities. Additionally, Welltem, operated by Chairman Park, has been providing childbirth incentives to employees’ children since this year: 1 million won for the first child, 2 million won for the second, and 3 million won for the third.
Chairman Park said, “I hope that through participation in this campaign, hope will be delivered to families with multiple children. Overcoming the low birthrate issue requires the interest of businesspeople. Although the difficult economic situation continues, I hope that active participation by companies will help address the low birthrate problem even a little.”
Mayor Hong said, “I am grateful to the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Social Contribution Committee for joining us in providing economic support to families with multiple children. We will continue to develop various policies related to childbirth and childcare to create a nurturing environment that is good for raising children.”
