On the morning of the 8th, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited the Mapo Senior Welfare Center, where the 'Walking Together with Seniors' event was held in celebration of Parents' Day, to express his gratitude to the elderly.
The event, attended by over 900 seniors from the local community, opened with a performance commemorating Parents' Day.
Following the performance, Mayor Park Gang-su presented awards and delivered a congratulatory speech to 15 individuals, including residents who practiced filial piety, exemplary parents, and contributors to the promotion of senior welfare.
In his speech, Mayor Park said, "The reason South Korea has grown into an economic powerhouse is thanks to the hard work of our elders who lovingly and devotedly cared for us, their children," adding, "Mapo District believes that a country where seniors are happy is a developed nation, and we will continue to implement welfare policies that provide practical support to our elderly."
Meanwhile, Mapo District is promoting various policies to practice filial piety, such as the 'Resident Participation Filial Piety Meal,' 'Filial Piety Lodging Senior Centers,' and 'Filial Piety Vacation.'
